“Andalusian Dream“ is the latest creation of custom homebuilder Bill Campbell. The project is a slight departure from the status quo for Campbell Custom Homes. This 8,000-plus-square-foot home is a remodel. “We at Campbell Custom Homes made a decision to enter the remodel market with a bang. The design reflects a home, which is both warm and functional,” Bill says. The Exterior The project began its transformation as a 4,000-square-foot house built in the ‘70s. Located on Lake Down, the layout of the old home did not compliment the views or the potential of the lot and lake. Form and texture are carefully orchestrated to intimate the earthy palette of Tuscan homes. Reflecting 15th century Andalusian architecture, the refined elevation combines the elegance of stone, stucco and roof tile. Layered facades and a deeply recessed entry door combine with varied rooflines establishing a distinctive street presence. Carved rafter tails and exposed window headers reflect timeless Tuscan detailing. At the rear of the house sculptured arches and an airy screened summer kitchen and porch define the outside entertainment area. The pool design reflects simple and classic forms. A misting system surrounding the perimeter of the yard protects bathers from insects. This feature eliminates the need for a pool screen, providing the homeowners an unobstructed view of the lake. The Floor Plan The first floor demonstrates a high level of function uncommon to large homes. Rather than isolate the theater in a faraway corner of the house, Bill choose to locate this area adjacent to the game room and within an easy walk of the kitchen for intermission snacks. Rough-sawn beams and Tuscan tile integrate the home’s interior. Built for multiple generations, the second floor contains an elevator, a children's getaway and a secondary laundry facility. Tranquil views are revealed from the addition of a second-floor porch, which contains a cozy outdoor fireplace. A special thanks must be given to all the subcontractors who participated in this project. Under the guidance of project manager Adam Bishman, the construction was completed in record time and at a level of detail not seen in most remodels. Map is of the home prior to the remodel! |
